Dana Peroni, DVM, CVA
Dr. Dana Peroni graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She worked in equine practice for several years in Michigan and also did research on upper airway disease in horses for a year at Michigan State. She and her husband, Dr. John Peroni, moved to Athens in 2000 when he was hired as a Large Animal surgeon at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr Dana Peroni opened Covered Bridge Equine in September of 2002. She likes working with horses of all disciplines, from backyard horses to miniatures and sport horses. She has a special affinity for those naughty donkeys too! Dr. Peroni is an avid runner and also enjoys yoga, reading and trail riding her Quarter Horse "Bourbon". The Peroni's have 2 children, Julia and Luca, who tend to keep them busy when they are not working. Four"Georgia mixed-breed" dogs also reside with the Peroni family and love to play with the kids. Dr. Peroni is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) and enjoys incorporating alternative therapies into practice.
Paige Williams, DVM
Dr.Paige Williams is a graduate from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, where she also earned a Masters degree in Animal Science. Dr. Williams is from Hephzibah, GA, where she grew up riding and training horses on her family's farm. Prior to vet school, she actively competed in both Western and English disciplines at the state and regional level and has won a few AQHA all-around awards. Dr. Williams has three cats in addition to her two young geldings, Hugo and Ozzie, that aspire to be reiners when they grow up. So, keep an eye out for "Gunnin for Dolls" and "Slideoutamywranglers”! Outside of her equine activities, Dr. Williams enjoys reading, watching movies, gardening, and has a new found love of kayaking. She is thrilled to be a part of CBE! Her professional interests include lameness, emergency medicine, and dentistry.
Katy Mayhew, DVM
Originally from Senoia, Georgia, Dr. Mayhew received her degree in veterinary medicine from The University of Georgia. Following vet school, Dr. Mayhew completed a year long rotating equine internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Colorado prior to returning to Watkinsville, Georgia as an associate veterinarian at Covered Bridge Equine.
Dr. Mayhew has a strong interest in equine dentistry and completed advanced training in oral techniques for horses in the fall of 2019. In addition to dentistry, Dr. Mayhew’s professional interests include foal medicine, nutrition and imaging including radiology, ultrasound and endoscopy.
Outside of work, Dr. Mayhew enjoys distance running, yoga, watercolor and drinking coffee in her garden. She and her husband Nicholas can often be found hiking and exploring with their border collie Violet.
